Mr. MARIÁN PLAVEC is one of the Dr. L. Leng prestige prize winner for the manufacture of folk musical instruments of Slovakia in the manufacturers competition (1984), a memorial holder from the Folk Festival "pod Polanou" in Detva for the "fujara from Detva" play (1998) and the shepherd pipe play (1999).
In the year 2000 he became Master of the Slovak Pipers Guild.
He is living in Bratislava, but his origin is in Detva, a small village where his grandparents come from. His confidence search of manufacture and play air-sound folk musical instruments took place in workshops owned by the oldest and authentic holders of the manufactural and interpretative tradition.
In the year 1985, playing "fujara from Detva", shepherd pipes and "drumbla" with the Prague chamber orchestra Musica Bohemica, he recorded two CDs with E. Pascha carols from the 18th Century "Christmas Mass/Carols".
In the same year he presented one solo exhibition "When he grates a pipe, trills "fujara"...", compound of folk musical instruments collections from Slovak regions Podpolanie, Orava, Kysuce, Liptov, Šariš, Gemer... In 1998 he completed his representative set of the own hand-made instruments with a few meter high "fujara - trombitas".
As an instrumentalist - solo player he acted in folks bodies Dopravár (1979-90), Dimitrovec (1982) and in a group Musici Patroralis J. Peško (1977-79).
He is recognized also by media, Slovak Television, Slovak Radio and other media gave him place for some individual broadcast and articles. He performed in France, Germany, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Hungary and Czech republic.

   
From his performance in 2000 we select:

* Welcome the European Union representatives in the Bratislava Castle by playing "fujara" and bagpipes songs

* Musical performance on the Christmas meeting of the Ministry of Foreign Affaires of the Slovak Republic and the foreign journalists accredited in Slovakia

* Taking part in the composition of the soundtrack to the movie "As a wild goose" from the director M. Tapák

* Co-performance with the popular Slovak singers S. Sklovská and V. Patejdl on the night program for Slovak entrepreneurs in the Slovak Culture Club in Prague

* Educational display about Slovak folk musical instruments for mental disabled and handicapped children in Bratislava

* Welcome the King Matej and visitors of the Folk Handicraft 2000 in the Zvolen Castle by playing bagpipes and "fujara"

* Ceremonial opening of the Slovak Culture Club in Brno by playing "fujara", bagpipes and "koncovka"

He is an author of the handwritten remote the Masters about the authentic manufacturers of the folk musical instruments of Slovakia. He is gradually gaining financial means for the edition of a work that could be a representative text-picture publication.
